Your dentist will make a mold of your teeth to create fitted mouth trays or strips to wear at night, and give you the whitening products to take home. The peroxide gel you use at home is not as strong as the peroxide gel used by a professional but you will still be supervised by your dentist all through the process. The good thing is you can see the whitening effects very soon, and you can stop the bleaching once you reach the desired shade.

Some pros and cons for at home method

Some at-home kits don't have enough whitening product in them to work. If a dental expert is not performing the whitening, it's possible that the mouthguard given will not fit properly, allowing some of the bleaching gel to leak out onto your gums and into your mouth, leading to blistering and sensitivity. The amount of whitening agent in the product will determine how long the patient needs to wear the foils during the day.
